Landscape in greyscale, Shetland

Lumen levels as if dusk

air a moist shroud,  

drenched with rain

a gauze so thick -reduces 

lamb and rock to tone on tone.

A flurry of plovers unseen

until this close I see their

sienna plume flash strident

against charcoal wings

on greyscale sky

The oyster catchers silent, 

subdued ewes sentinel 

with sideways chew.

In the half light haar

a rounded body tapers

Tail and nose exposed - the selkie.
